The Cotswolds community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Harrison Aylott, a 15-year-old schoolboy described by his family as “the light in our lives.” Harrison tragically died on a railway line in Blockley on the evening of Monday, June 8.
British Transport Police were called to the scene at 8 pm, but despite the efforts of emergency responders, Harrison could not be saved. Police have confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious.
In a heartfelt statement, Harrison’s family said, “Our beautiful boy Harrison was the light in our lives and had everyone laughing within minutes of being in his company. His bond with his brothers brought us immense joy. We’ve received countless messages from friends highlighting just how much he was cherished and the happiness he spread. Please continue to share any photos you have of Harrison—they mean the world to us at this time.”

Described as kind-hearted with a huge spirit, Harrison will be forever held in the hearts of those who loved him. “Nothing will heal this pain, but we will carry him with us always and encourage all who knew him to do the same, remembering the wonderful places he will go,” the family added.
Harrison was a Year 11 student at The Cotswold School, having joined in January. The school expressed deep sorrow upon learning of his passing, remembering him as a warm, positive presence who quickly became a cherished member of the school community. A statement read, “Harrison brightened our school environment, embraced opportunities with enthusiasm, and was a genuine pleasure to teach. He will be fondly remembered by all.”
The local rugby community also paid tribute. Stow on the Wold Rugby Club, where Harrison played for the Under-16s squad last season, shared their grief: “The loss of a young life is heart-breaking. Our club and rugby community stand united in support through this incredibly difficult time.”
