Gloucestershire Primary School Closes Following Sudden Death of Volunteer

Waterwells Primary School in Quedgeley, Gloucestershire, has been closed after the sudden death of a valued volunteer from the school community on Thursday, June 4. An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene, highlighting the severity of the incident.

The Greenshaw Learning Trust expressed their deep sorrow, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the death of a valued volunteer and member of our school community. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his family, friends, and everyone affected by this tragic loss.”

In response, the school trust has offered support to pupils, staff, and families during this difficult period, while also requesting privacy for the bereaved family.

Gloucestershire County Council confirmed the closure of Waterwells Primary Academy and its associated pre-school for Friday, June 5. They expect both to resume normal operations on Monday, June 8.

The Great Western Air Ambulance Charity reported that their crew arrived at the Quedgeley incident at 4:13 pm. The helicopter was staffed with a critical care doctor, a trainee critical care doctor, and a specialist paramedic, all of whom attended to the patient on site.
