The Gloucestershire policing community is mourning the unexpected passing of PC Ian Minett, who died while on duty on the morning of Saturday, June 21. Authorities have described the circumstances surrounding his death as unexplained but non-suspicious.
Gloucestershire Constabulary released a heartfelt statement expressing their condolences: “We extend our thoughts and prayers to PC Minett’s family, friends, and colleagues. We ask that his family be granted privacy during this incredibly difficult time.”

Andy Miller reflected, “You were one of the happiest people I’ve ever worked with, and I’m devastated you’ve left us so soon. B shift won’t be the same without you.”
Ashleigh Louise recalled working alongside Ian for two years, saying, “Ian was an amazing colleague who always stayed late to ensure handovers were thorough. He is, and always will be, a part of Cheltenham police. He will be deeply missed by everyone here.”
Veteran officer Rachel Stemp, with 18 years of service, described Ian as “a kind gentleman who recently supported me and my colleague during a challenging situation. Ian was a brilliant officer, much loved, and his loss makes the thin blue line even thinner. My thoughts are with his family.”
Sue Absalom remembered him fondly as “a truly lovely, caring guy with a cracking sense of humour” and called his loss “an absolute loss to policing.”
Adam Williams, chair of Gloucestershire Police Federation, expressed the collective grief of the force: “We are devastated by the on-duty death of PC Ian Minett. Ian was well liked by everyone he worked with, and his loss is deeply felt across the shift, the station, and the entire Constabulary. Our thoughts are with Ian’s family, friends, and close colleagues, and we remain committed to supporting them in this difficult time.”
