Gloucestershire Nurse’s Misconduct Leads to Striking Off

A nurse in Gloucestershire, Jeannette Makuete Gibson, has been removed from the profession due to a series of shocking incidents in which she failed to provide adequate care and administer medication correctly.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council heard how Ms. Gibson displayed unprofessional behavior on several occasions in 2019. This included snapping at patients, neglecting to record prescribed fluids, and refusing to provide necessary care. She also made serious errors such as administering the wrong medications and failing to administer pain relief when requested by a patient.

Despite being initially suspended, Ms. Gibson’s lack of engagement and failure to provide any mitigation led to the decision to strike her off the nursing register. The panel emphasized that she showed no remorse or understanding of the impact of her actions, and her unwillingness to demonstrate the ability to practice safely and responsibly.
