Philip Anderson, a 49-year-old peripatetic music teacher, has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges of child sexual assault. The allegations involve six counts of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13 by inappropriate touching, reportedly occurring over a four-year period. These offences are said to have taken place at two schools in Gloucestershire where Anderson worked as a private music tutor.
In addition, Anderson faces two counts of sexually assaulting a female aged over 16, relating to a girl who received private lessons at his home studio.
During a brief hearing at Gloucestershire Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Anderson confirmed his identity and entered his pleas but made no further comments. The magistrates have referred the case to Gloucester Crown Court. A plea and case management hearing has been scheduled for May 5.
