Gloucestershire Mum Dies After Brazilian Butt Lift While Undergoing Training

An inquest set for later this year will examine the tragic death of Alice Webb, a 33-year-old mother-of-five from Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, who died following a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) procedure performed at a Gloucester salon.

Ms. Webb fell seriously ill after the cosmetic treatment in September 2024 and was admitted to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, where she later passed away. The procedure was conducted by Jordan Parke, known as the “British Lip King,” who tragically died in February 2025. Reports indicate he may have been undergoing a cosmetic procedure himself prior to his death in Canary Wharf, London.

The inquest held a pre-review at Gloucestershire Coroner’s Court, where further details about the circumstances of Ms. Webb’s death emerged. Police initially launched a criminal investigation, arresting a man and woman on suspicion of manslaughter. The woman was subsequently released without charge, while the investigation into Mr. Parke’s role ceased following his passing.

Katy Skerrett, Senior Coroner for Gloucestershire, confirmed the full inquest will take place in autumn and is expected to last approximately three days. Laura Collignon, representing the Webb family, urged the coroner to hold the inquest in front of a jury, highlighting that Ms. Webb was not merely a patient but was actually being trained in performing these procedures herself at the time of the incident. This factor could classify her death as workplace-related and therefore a notifiable fatality.

The coroner acknowledged the complexities involved, noting Ms. Webb was self-employed and undergoing training at a friend’s residence, but agreed the matter should proceed before a jury.

The inquest will also hear testimonies from several key individuals. These include Jemma Pawlyszyn, the salon owner where the procedure took place, and another woman who was receiving training alongside Ms. Webb. According to the family’s legal representative, police hold video evidence of this other woman’s procedure, which was performed earlier the same day. She reportedly was not present when Ms. Webb fell ill, but her timeline and presence remain relevant to understanding the full sequence of events.

Following this case, campaigners have renewed their calls for increased regulation within the beauty industry and the government to ban high-risk cosmetic procedures like Brazilian butt lifts when not performed by qualified healthcare professionals. In response, the government has proposed new measures to ensure such procedures are restricted to designated health workers.

At the hearing, Alice Webb’s former partner, Ben Kingscote, strongly criticized the lack of action. “They are talking and warning people, but they are not actually doing anything,” he said. “They need to pull their fingers out and get it banned before someone else dies.”

Gloucestershire Police clarified that while the criminal investigation has been closed due to Mr. Parke’s death, inquiries will continue to support the coroner’s investigation, aiming to establish the sequence of events leading to Ms. Webb’s death.
