Gloucestershire Mother Dies After Brazilian Butt Lift Amid Training Procedure

An inquest into the death of Alice Webb, a 33-year-old mother of five from Wotton-under-Edge, who died following a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) procedure, is expected to take place later this year. Alice passed away in September 2024 after experiencing severe complications from the BBL treatment at a Gloucester salon.

A pre-inquest review at Gloucestershire Coroner’s Court revealed that Jordan Parke, the individual who performed the procedure, has also died. Parke, known as the “British Lip King,” passed away in February 2025, reportedly after undergoing a cosmetic procedure himself in Canary Wharf, London. He was a familiar face on television, having appeared on ITV’s This Morning to talk about his cosmetic surgeries.

Alice Webb fell ill post-treatment and was rushed to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, where she later died. Following her death, police launched a criminal investigation, resulting in the arrest of a man and a woman on suspicion of manslaughter. The woman was released without charge, and the investigation closed after Parke’s death, as charges could no longer be pursued.

At the coroner’s hearing, Laura Collignon, representing Alice’s family, urged that the inquest be carried out with a jury because the death was workplace-related. It was revealed that Alice was not just a patient but also being trained to perform the procedure herself. The senior coroner, Katy Skerrett, acknowledged this view but noted that Alice was a self-employed practitioner receiving training at a friend’s house, making it a borderline case. Nevertheless, the coroner agreed to a jury inquest.

The inquest will feature testimony from various individuals, including police officers, a pathologist, Jemma Pawlyszyn, the salon owner, and another woman who was undergoing training at the same time as Alice. This other woman’s procedure was recorded on video, which the police currently hold. She was present earlier in the day but reportedly not during the moment Alice became unwell.

Following Alice’s death, calls for tighter regulation of the cosmetic surgery industry have intensified. The government has proposed new laws requiring that Brazilian butt lifts and other high-risk cosmetic procedures can only be performed by authorized health professionals.

Ben Kingscote, Alice’s former partner, voiced frustration over the lack of legislative action, urging the government to enforce a ban on dangerous procedures before more lives are lost.

Gloucestershire Police confirmed the closure of the criminal investigation after Parke’s death but noted that inquiries on behalf of the coroner will continue, with the inquest aiming to clarify the circumstances surrounding Alice Webb’s tragic death.
