Adam Hawkins, aged 44, has been sentenced to four years and eight months in prison after robbing Lea Garage on the A40 in Herefordshire at gunpoint. During the terrifying incident on 18 February, Hawkins threatened the shop assistant, warning, “Give me all the money or I will come back,” while indicating he was armed.
Hawkins fled the scene with over £1,000 in cash. Following an investigation, officers located and arrested him. He was subsequently charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.
At Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday 5 August, Hawkins, from Hazel Road in Drybrook, Gloucestershire, was found guilty of both charges. The judge sentenced him to 56 months for the robbery offence and 40 months for the firearm offence, to be served concurrently.

In addition to his prison sentence, Hawkins was ordered to pay a £228 victim surcharge and was disqualified from driving for 46 months.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “An armed robber has been sentenced to four years and eight months in prison for targeting a garage in Herefordshire in February. Hawkins entered Lea Garage on the A40, told the shop assistant he had a gun, and demanded cash. After fleeing with more than £1,000, he was tracked down and arrested. His sentencing reflects the severity of his actions and the threat posed to the community.”
