Gloucestershire may be in for another heatwave next week, as weather forecasts suggest temperatures could climb to as high as 36C. The latest Global Forecast System (GFS) weather model indicates that from Sunday, temperatures across parts of England could exceed 30C, with a peak on Monday. Gloucestershire is among the counties expected to experience these soaring temperatures.
If these forecasts materialise, Monday will be the hottest day of the spell, with adjacent areas in western England also feeling the intense heat. Temperatures may reach 35C in the Midlands, 34C in Wales, and around 32C in parts of Yorkshire.
By Tuesday, the heat in Gloucestershire may marginally ease, although temperatures are predicted to remain well above average across much of England. The GFS model projects highs of 34C in the Midlands and southeast, 33C in portions of Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, and approximately 30C in Wales.

Meanwhile, Scotland and Northern Ireland are expected to keep cooler conditions, with temperatures generally remaining in the mid-20s or lower throughout the week.
The long-range weather outlook suggests that temperatures of 30C or above could persist somewhere in England every day until the following Sunday. Southern England may see highs around 34C on Wednesday, reducing slightly to 33C on Thursday, and around 30C to 31C on Friday and Saturday.

The Met Office’s extended forecast for August 8 to 17 indicates that above average temperatures are likely to continue, especially in southern regions of the UK. However, forecasters suggest this heatwave may not be as extreme as the recent ones.

There is also a possibility of showers and thunderstorms breaking up the hot weather.
The Met Office commented: “The period will be rather changeable initially, with occasional rain or showers, but also chances for drier spells, particularly in the south. Towards mid-August, high pressure is expected to become more dominant in the north or northwest of the UK, while lower pressure could persist to the south or east. This may increase the likelihood of frontal systems or thundery interludes affecting southern and eastern areas compared to recent weeks, although rainfall amounts may vary significantly, with some areas receiving little rain.”
