Gloucestershire Community Leaders Honoured in King’s New Year Awards

Gloucestershire’s community leaders and campaigners have been prominently recognised in the King’s New Year honours list. Orlando Fraser, former chair of the Charity Commission for England and Wales, and Mary Hutton, outgoing chief executive of the NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board, were both awarded CBEs for their exceptional contributions to charity, public service, and healthcare.

The county’s achievements extend into sport, with Dr Zoe Aldcroft receiving an OBE for her outstanding services to rugby union, showcasing Gloucestershire’s pride in both professional and community accomplishments.

Several locals earned MBEs for their impactful work, including UN Goodwill Ambassador Elena Goulding for her dedication to biodiversity and climate action, Michael Henriques for leading charitable air ambulance initiatives, and Franklin Owusu-Antwi for his contributions in local government. Additionally, campaigners focused on children’s online safety and community volunteers from Coleford and Cheltenham were recognised for their invaluable efforts.
