Gloucestershire endured their seventh loss in eight Rothesay County Championship Division Two matches this season, despite a determined bowling effort against Worcestershire at New Road.
Starting the day on 59-1 and still trailing Worcestershire by 40 runs, Gloucestershire’s hopes of salvaging a draw quickly faded as they collapsed from 81-1 to 112-7. Cameron Bancroft fought bravely with a resilient 56 runs, but the visitors were unable to counter left-arm spinner Fateh Singh, who delivered an impressive 5-74.
A crucial ninth-wicket partnership of 50 runs between Graeme van Buuren (32) and Daz Ahmed (27) helped Gloucestershire reach a respectable total of 185.

Chasing a target of just 87, Worcestershire faced a stiff contest. However, they eventually clinched victory with five wickets in hand. Van Buuren showcased his all-round ability by taking four wickets with his spin bowling, while New Zealand pacer Kristian Clarke, playing his final match of a two-game stint with Gloucestershire, took the other wicket. Former Gloucestershire wicketkeeper Gareth Roderick sealed the win with an unbeaten 24 runs.
