For the second year running, it has been shortlisted among the top three pubs in Gloucestershire at the prestigious National Pub and Bar Awards — a testament to its quality and appeal.
Visiting on a mild, occasionally rainy Wednesday afternoon, I found the pub quieter than expected, but it was easy to imagine it bustling on warmer, drier days. While outdoor seating along the waterfront beckons when the sun shines, I opted for the indoor spaces, particularly the bright conservatory. With floor-to-ceiling windows, this area offers the best of both worlds: protected from the weather yet fully embracing the dockside views.

Service at Dr Foster is genuinely friendly and attentive. Though I didn’t sample the food on this visit, the bar staff’s welcoming smiles and detailed knowledge of their local and guest drinks enhanced the overall experience.
