Gloucester has been plunged into chaos as road closures and diversions have caused severe gridlock across the city. The A417 Over Causeway is closed due to a water leak, with drivers reporting frustratingly slow progress. Furthermore, the closure of Westgate Bridge has added to the congestion.
The resulting diversions have led to heavy traffic and significant delays on key routes such as Castle Meads Way, St Oswalds Road, Gouda Way, and Tewkesbury Road. The knock-on effects also extend to the A40, which connects the A417 to Longford.
The situation has also impacted public transportation, with Stagecoach buses being diverted to avoid lengthy delays. Bus stops along The Quays and docks are currently not being served, causing further disruption to commuters.
