Italian sportswear giant Macron, the official kit provider for Gloucester Rugby, is set to open a new flagship store at Gloucester Quays, expanding its footprint in the city. Known across Europe for its high-performance activewear, Macron signed a multi-year agreement last year to become Gloucester Rugby’s Technical Kit Partner and Retail Partner.
Macron’s distinctive ‘Macron Hero’ logo currently features on all the men’s and women’s team sportswear, with an existing store already operating next to the Kingsholm Stadium since last summer. Now, the brand is bringing its full range closer to shoppers in the heart of Gloucester by securing a 2,200 sq ft retail unit at Gloucester Quays, neighbors to popular brands Jack Wills and All Saints.
This move further enhancesthe Quays’ growing reputation as a destination for quality sportswear, joining established names like Adidas, Asics, and Puma. In fact, sportswear sales at Gloucester Quays have seen a year-on-year rise of 3%, highlighting strong consumer interest.

The new Macron store will offer official kits for Gloucester Rugby men’s and Gloucester-Hartpury women’s teams, along with a variety of performance and lifestyle sports apparel designed to meet the demands of local athletes and fans alike.
The launch aligns perfectly with Gloucester Quays’ upcoming “Summer of Sport” series, where major sporting events including the Rugby World Cup, Wimbledon, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, The Masters, Commonwealth Games, and UEFA Women’s Champions League will be shown live on large screens in Pillar & Lucy Square, attracting sports fans from across the city.
Paul Carter, asset director at Peel Retail & Leisure, praised the signing: “Bringing Macron to Gloucester Quays underscores our destination’s appeal to activewear brands and celebrates local sporting heritage through our partnership with Gloucester Rugby. The opening will further boost footfall during a vibrant summer of sport.”
Ross Cook, Macron’s Senior Technical Sports Marketing Manager, expressed excitement about the new store: “Opening a secondary official retail outlet here is a natural progression, strengthening our bond with Gloucester’s sporting community. We’re eager to connect with even more fans and become an integral part of the city’s thriving sports culture.”
While the official store opening date is yet to be announced, the club’s enthusiasm is clear. Alex Brown, Gloucester Rugby CEO, reaffirmed the partnership’s value in April 2025: “Partnering with Macron delivers not only elite-quality sportswear that supports our athletes’ performance but also new retail opportunities for our supporters. Their commitment to excellence aligns seamlessly with our club’s ethos, promising significant benefits on and off the pitch.”
