Italian sportswear brand Macron, the official kit provider for Gloucester Rugby, is set to open a new store at Gloucester Quays, further strengthening its connection with the city’s sporting community.
Having signed a multi-year partnership last year as Gloucester Rugby’s Technical Kit Partner and Retail Partner, Macron’s distinctive Hero logo adorns the men’s and women’s teams' apparel. The brand already operates a store adjacent to Kingsholm Stadium, but the upcoming Gloucester Quays location marks a significant expansion.
The new 2,200 sq ft store will be situated beside popular retailers Jack Wills and All Saints, joining an established lineup of sportswear brands at Gloucester Quays, including Adidas, Asics, and Puma. This cluster of activewear retailers has seen a three percent sales increase year-on-year, reflecting growing consumer demand.

Macron’s Gloucester Quays store will showcase a diverse range of high-performance sportswear and will stock official kits for both Gloucester Rugby’s men’s team and the Gloucester-Hartpury women’s rugby team. The launch aligns perfectly with Gloucester Quays’ upcoming “Summer of Sport” events, which include live broadcasts of major tournaments such as the World Cup, Wimbledon, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, The Masters, the Commonwealth Games, and the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Paul Carter, Asset Director at Peel Retail & Leisure, the operator of Gloucester Quays, highlighted the brand’s significance: “Macron’s signing reflects Gloucester Quays’ appeal to activewear brands and underscores the importance of local sporting heritage to our destination. Their arrival coincides with our Summer of Sport, expected to attract sports fans citywide, boosting foot traffic and benefiting our retail and leisure tenants.”
Ross Cook, Senior Technical Sports Marketing Manager at Macron, added: “Opening a second official retail store at Gloucester Quays is a natural progression for us, deepening our ties with the city’s sporting culture. We look forward to offering fans a fresh way to engage with both Gloucester Rugby and Gloucester-Hartpury, especially during the exciting Summer of Sport activation.”
While the official opening date is yet to be announced, the partnership with Macron has already been praised by Gloucester Rugby’s CEO, Alex Brown. In April 2025, Brown said: “We are thrilled to partner with Macron as our Technical Kit and Retail Partner. This collaboration not only delivers top-tier sportswear to enhance our team’s performance but also enriches retail experiences for our supporters. Macron’s dedication to excellence perfectly matches our club’s values, promising great benefits both on and off the field.”
