Gloucester Rugby Trials Former Bristol Bears, Saracens, and Benetton Fly-Half

Gloucester Rugby has confirmed that fly-half Tiff Eden is currently on trial at the club, as revealed by director of rugby George Skivington.

Cheltenham-born Eden, aged 30, has been training with the Cherry and Whites for the past three weeks after being left without a club for the 2024/25 season. His career started with Championship side Nottingham, followed by a move to Worcester Warriors. Subsequently, he spent five years at Bristol Bears and then joined United Rugby Championship side Zebre in Parma for a two-year stint. Eden recently signed a short-term contract with Saracens as injury cover and also trained with his former club Bristol during the Six Nations break before being invited to train at Kingsholm. He has been added to the club’s European squad in preparation for the last 16 knockout round tie with Montpellier in the EPCR Challenge Cup.

Skivington explained, “He’s on a bit of a trial with us. He’s been training, he actually just picked up a little niggle the other week, so he’s done a week’s training, but he is with us on trial effectively. He obviously knows a lot of the lads; he’s Cheltenham-based anyway. He’s a really good bloke and a very good player. He’s in and amongst it for a couple of months.”

Regarding the decision to bring in Eden while having Gareth Anscombe, Charlie Atkinson, and Santi Carreras as established options at fly-half, Skivington clarified, “We’re not a massive squad, so we quite often find ourselves in the position where we could do with some extra training numbers, and someone like Tiff wants to come in and try and prove he’s a viable person to sign or stay active for another opportunity.”
