Gloucester Rugby has officially signed 23-year-old flanker Will Trenholm from Harlequins, adding a promising talent to their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season. Trenholm, who has been part of the Harlequins setup since age 13 and represented England Sevens, brings fresh energy and potential to the Cherry and Whites’ back row.
This season, Trenholm made four appearances for Harlequins in the Premiership Rugby Cup and gained most of his competitive experience playing on loan at London Scottish in the Championship. Gloucester director of rugby George Skivington views the signing as a strategic investment in promising talent to build long-term depth in the squad.
Trenholm’s arrival follows the earlier signings of flanker James Venter from Hollywoodbet Sharks and number eight Jack Mann from Glasgow Warriors, both of whom join established back-row players like Lewis Ludlow, Jack Clement, and Harry Taylor. With key departures expected—Zach Mercer likely moving to Toulon and Albert Tuisue and Ruan Ackermann possibly leaving at the end of their contracts—these new additions are crucial to Gloucester’s plans.

Skivington remarked on the evolving squad: “We have some exciting players coming in. Jack Mann, for example, was in the Scotland squad and is a massive ball carrier with lots of potential. There are a few more signings to come. We’re well-stocked for next year, but those currently with us remain committed. The message is clear—not everyone will be here next year—but the boys want to finish this season strongly. They’ve worked hard, shared highs and lows, and want to put their best foot forward.”
This latest signing exemplifies Gloucester’s forward-thinking approach as they prepare for a competitive season ahead.
