Gloucester Rugby have bolstered their front row for the upcoming 2026/27 season by signing tighthead prop Eliot Salt from Coventry Rugby. The 26-year-old prop moves up from the Championship to the Gallagher Premiership, bringing with him a proven track record and significant experience.
Salt has made 69 appearances across three seasons with Coventry, establishing himself as a reliable and highly regarded front-row player. His consistent performances at the Championship level have caught the attention of Gloucester, who have already secured the signature of Samoan international Marco Fepulea’i this summer.
The move comes as Gloucester prepares for the departures of key players, including All Black tighthead Nepo Laulala and former Russian captain Kirill Gotovtsev, both leaving Kingsholm this summer. Salt’s arrival is seen as a strategic addition to strengthen the squad’s front-row depth.

Head Coach George Skivington expressed confidence in Salt’s potential, stating: “Eliot has earned a strong reputation in the Championship through consistent performances. Salt had recently extended his contract with Coventry but was granted release to take the next step in his career. He has already joined the Gloucester squad as they prepare for the new season.
