Gloucester Rugby have solidified their squad by securing a contract extension for their homegrown prop, Ciaran Knight. The Gallagher Premiership club successfully fended off interest from various rival teams to retain the talented player.
Knight, who debuted for the Cherry and Whites in 2017, marked a major career milestone last season with his 100th appearance during an away win against Newcastle Falcons. Known for his adaptability, Knight is comfortable playing both loosehead and tighthead prop, making him a valuable asset to Gloucester.
His strong performances have not gone unnoticed, earning him a call-up to the England A squad ahead of their autumn clash with the All Blacks XV. Reports suggested Bristol Bears showed significant interest in signing Knight this summer, but Gloucester’s commitment secured his future.

Gloucester head coach George Skivington praised Knight, saying, “Knighter is a local lad from a strong rugby family who embodies what it means to represent Gloucester Rugby. Over the past couple of seasons, he has firmly established himself in the matchday 23 and consistently brings versatility and dedication to the team. His readiness to step in at either prop position speaks highly of his character. We are thrilled he has chosen to commit his future to the club.”
Knight expressed his enthusiasm about continuing at Gloucester, stating, “I’m incredibly proud to re-sign with my home club. Wearing the Cherry and White at Kingsholm is a dream for any local player. Although this season hasn’t gone as planned, I’m determined to finish strongly and carry that momentum into 2026/27.”
