A well-executed 50/22 kick from Caolan Englefield in the 14th minute provided Gloucester with crucial territory, leading to a driving maul try from Blake. Following this, Joseph added Gloucester’s third try, further increasing their lead.
Sale responded quickly with a maul-based try from Longstaff and a well-crafted run from O’Flaherty, both challenging Gloucester’s defence.
The hosts regained momentum when Thorley powered through Sale’s defence for Gloucester’s fourth try. Before the break, Blake secured his second try from another driving maul, sending the home fans into the interval with optimism.
Gloucester maintained their intensity after the break, with Redshaw assisting Knight for another try down the left side. Despite Sale’s persistent efforts, which included a penalty and tries from Jibulu and O’Flaherty, Gloucester’s defence held firm.
The match concluded with Trenholm’s decisive try near the line, confirming Gloucester’s bonus-point win and their position atop the PREM Rugby Cup group standings.
Overall, Gloucester demonstrated a dominant attacking display and resilience in defence, marking a confident start to their season.
