Gloucester Rugby has officially announced that prop Ciaran Knight, a talented homegrown player, has signed a contract extension with the Gallagher Premiership club. Knight’s decision to stay came amid strong interest from several local rival teams.
Since making his senior debut for Gloucester in 2017, Knight has grown into a vital member of the squad. He celebrated a remarkable milestone last season by making his 100th appearance during an away win over the Newcastle Falcons. Known for his adaptability in the scrum, Knight comfortably plays both loosehead and tighthead prop positions, highlighting his versatility and value to the team.
His consistent performances have not gone unnoticed. Knight earned a call-up to the England A squad ahead of their autumn match against the All Blacks XV. Reports suggested that Bristol Bears were eager to bring him on board during the summer transfer window, underscoring his rising profile.

Gloucester head coach George Skivington praised Knight’s commitment and character: “Knighter is a local lad from a strong rugby family, and he understands exactly what it means to represent Gloucester Rugby. Over the past couple of seasons, he’s firmly established himself in the matchday 23 and really come into his own. Whether at loosehead or tighthead, he’s always willing to do whatever the team needs, which speaks volumes about his character. We’re thrilled he’s committed his future to the club.”
Knight expressed his pride in continuing his journey with Gloucester: “I’m incredibly proud to re-sign for my home club. Wearing the Cherry and White at Kingsholm is a dream for any local player. Although this season hasn’t gone as planned, I am determined to finish strong and build momentum heading into 2026/27.”
