Gloucester Rugby have officially confirmed the signings of two young New Zealand talents, Callum McCabe and Halen King. The duo will be with the Cherry & Whites until the end of November, with the club holding an option to make their stays at Kingsholm permanent.
Both players are English-qualified and have developed through the Chiefs' Super Rugby system. Recently involved in the New Zealand Under-20s training camp, they represent exciting emerging prospects in New Zealand rugby.
Nineteen-year-old fly-half McCabe expressed enthusiasm about testing himself in English rugby. “I’m really excited for the opportunity here at Gloucester and to test myself in a Gallagher Premiership environment,” he said. “All the coaches and the lads have been friendly and welcoming, and I can’t wait to get out there on the field with them.”
Twenty-year-old scrum-half King echoed the sentiment, recognising the passion for rugby in Gloucester. “I know that rugby is a pretty big deal here in Gloucester, just like back home. I’m really looking forward to getting out there in front of The Shed,” he commented. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to come over, and I’ll be doing everything I can to impress over the coming months.”
