Newcastle Falcons, now under Red Bull ownership, have identified Gloucester Rugby lock Cam Jordan as a key recruitment target for the 2026/27 season, according to recent reports.
At 26 years old, Jordan may not carry the same high profile as other players linked with Newcastle recently, but his consistent performances in the Gallagher Premiership have made him an asset to Gloucester. This season, he has started in all six league matches and contributed to their recent Champions Cup victory over Castres Olympique.
Jordan began his professional career through the Leicester Tigers academy, making several appearances before transferring to Kingsholm in 2020. Since joining Gloucester, he has appeared 75 times. However, he has struggled to secure a permanent first-choice lock position due to strong competition from international players like England’s Arthur Clarke, Wales’ Freddie Thomas, and Argentina’s Matias Alemanno.

With these players ahead of him in the pecking order, Jordan is reportedly exploring new opportunities. This move would follow Newcastle’s recent acquisition of Gloucester lock Freddie Clarke last season, highlighting an ongoing transfer relationship between the two clubs.
The Falcons have been aggressive in the transfer market following fresh investment, securing standout signings such as England-qualified former All Black Hoskins Sotutu. Sotutu, a powerful ball carrier and former Super Rugby Pacific player of the season, has been a long-term target for Gloucester but ultimately chose Newcastle, strengthening their squad as they prepare for a competitive campaign next season.
As Newcastle continues to bolster their roster, Cam Jordan’s potential arrival would reinforce their second row options and provide depth in the lock position, capitalizing on his experience and reliability at the Premiership level.
