Gloucester Rugby has confirmed that 12 senior players will be leaving the club at the end of the 2025/26 season, with Argentina international lock Matias Alemanno headlining the list. Alemanno is expected to make his 100th appearance for Gloucester this weekend if selected for the match against Newcastle Red Bulls.
Despite widespread speculation about his future, Irish fly-half Ross Byrne will remain at Gloucester, honoring the two years left on his contract. England international hooker Jack Singleton, sidelined this season due to a pre-season heart issue, is also staying with the club.
Among those departing, former Russia captain Kirill Gotovtsev will retire after making 87 appearances since joining in 2021 and becoming a fan favorite at Kingsholm. Cam Jordan, previously announced, will transfer to Newcastle Red Bulls after 77 appearances, while academy graduate Jake Morris, with 54 first-team appearances, will also move on.

Other first-team players leaving include Josh Basham, Jono Benz-Salomon, Hugh Bokenham, Will Butler, Nepo Laulala, Archie McArthur, Rob Russell, and Tomos Williams.
Gloucester head coach George Skivington expressed his gratitude: “With new players joining next season and a fresh academy intake, some departures are inevitable. I thank every player leaving the club for their dedication and contributions, whether over many seasons or a shorter time. They leave with our best wishes for the future. Saying goodbye is always tough, especially to those who’ve been with us for years, and I know our supporters join me in thanking them for all they’ve done for Cherry & White.”
The club has also confirmed that academy players George Dufty, Ollie Minnis, Dan O’Reilly, Rhys Price, Dan Owen, Pete Paramore, Rio Ebanks, and Freddie Stevens will be moving on.
