Gloucester Quays has secured a major new tenant as Hollister prepares to open its first outlet store in the South West at the shopping centre. This milestone signing marks an important addition to Gloucester Quays' mix of retailers, with the American lifestyle brand aiming to attract teenagers and young adults.
Hollister, part of the Abercrombie & Fitch Company, is known for its casual clothing range designed to appeal to a youthful audience. Previously recognised for its distinctive store ambience, the brand has since evolved and is expanding its outlet presence. There are currently no Hollister stores elsewhere in Gloucestershire, and the opening date for the Gloucester outlet has yet to be announced.
Job advertisements for managerial positions at the new store were recently posted on the Hollister website, signalling recruitment is underway. The planned store will occupy an 8,000 square foot unit on High Orchard Street, conveniently located adjacent to the main entrance of Gloucester Quays’ outlet mall and opposite retailers Sostrene Grene and All Saints.
Peel Retail & Leisure, the centre’s owner, highlighted that Hollister’s arrival aligns well with Gloucester Quays’ growing appeal to young and student shoppers. A spokesperson stated: “The brand’s combination of men’s and women’s clothing, offered at outlet prices, complements the centre’s established range of fashion names such as Jack Wills, Levi’s, The North Face, and Adidas.”
They added that Hollister’s decision to open its first South West outlet at Gloucester Quays is a testament to the centre’s strong performance, extensive regional customer base, and reputation. Recent openings from other premium brands like Berghaus and All Saints at Gloucester Quays reinforce its status as a premier shopping destination.
Paul Carter, asset director at Peel Retail & Leisure, said: “Securing Hollister is a fantastic milestone that reflects the strength of Gloucester Quays as a destination and our ongoing success in attracting sought-after brands. This addition enhances our fashion offering and confirms that Gloucester Quays continues to grow in relevance and appeal.”
Earlier this year, Gloucester Quays reported record-breaking footfall and strong performance across retail and leisure sectors, alongside robust leasing activity. These achievements support its position as the leading outlet shopping destination in the South West.
