Gloucester Quays Denby Store to Close After Christmas, New Attractions Set for 2026

Gloucester Quays is bidding farewell to its Denby pottery outlet store after Christmas, marking the end of an era for one of the centre’s long-standing retailers. Denby, which had recommitted to the shopping destination just last December, is now holding a closing down sale as it prepares to shut its doors.

However, the news comes with a positive outlook from shopping centre management. Owen Acland, Centre Manager, confirmed the closure but emphasized the bustling plans lined up for early 2026. A major highlight will be the arrival of Clip ’n Climb, an innovative leisure operator that promises to transform the upper deck of Gloucester Quays into a vibrant play and adventure zone.

Clip ’n Climb will feature 19 unique climbing challenges, including the famous Vertical Drop Slide, alongside a multi-level soft play area designed for younger children, and a café to complement the fun-filled experience. This addition is described as a “game-changing attraction” that will enhance the mix of retail, leisure, and entertainment at the centre.

Gloucester Quays has also recently expanded its retail lineup with the arrivals of notable brands like Søstrene Grene, Ben Sherman, Menkind, and the upsizing of Crew Clothing to offer an elevated shopping experience. Søstrene Grene’s November opening drew long queues, showcasing the city’s enthusiasm for new shopping options. Located at the main entrance from High Orchard Street, the nearly 4,000 sq ft store introduces Scandinavian-inspired homewares, furniture, lifestyle accessories, and craft essentials to the region.

Paul Carter, Asset Director at Peel Retail & Leisure, expressed pride in securing such a high-profile international brand, stating that Søstrene Grene’s arrival underscores Gloucester Quays’ reputation as a vibrant regional shopping and leisure hub, uniquely blending outlet retail with a lively city centre atmosphere.

With a 95% occupancy rate, Gloucester Quays concludes 2025 on a high note, boasting strong leasing momentum and an exciting pipeline of upcoming attractions and new tenants for 2026. Shoppers and visitors alike can look forward to a refreshed, dynamic destination poised for growth and innovation in the coming year.
