Plans to operate a pizza and pasta food truck near the KFC on Goodridge Avenue in Quedgeley, Gloucester, have been approved despite concerns raised about traffic, litter, and parking.
Ciprian Iusan and Iuliana Laurentiu received permission from Gloucester City Council last week to trade from the proposed site. However, the application faced several objections during the council meeting.
One local resident expressed worries about the suitability of the location, citing the presence of approximately ten existing food outlets in the area. They highlighted that the site lacked toilet facilities, running water, and proper drainage. The resident also described the area as residential, noting the ongoing issues with rubbish from KFC, frequent lorry traffic, and limited turning space near the proposed site, calling it “not the correct place” for such a business.

In response, Mr Laurentiu, who has been a Gloucester resident for ten years, clarified that the food truck would be positioned 15 metres away from the public highway on elevated ground with its own access, which is not a public road. He emphasised that it would not obstruct pedestrian or public pathways.
He described the food truck as compact, measuring 2.5 metres in height, 2.16 metres wide, and seven metres in length, located about 50 metres from the KFC entrance.
Regarding operating hours, Mr Laurentiu outlined plans to open from 4pm to 9pm on weekdays and extend to 10pm on Fridays through Sundays. However, he noted that weekend trading is unlikely this year because the business is fully booked with weekend events, currently operating from Monday to Thursday only.
The food truck is equipped with two 200-litre tanks under its new food preparation area, and customers are expected to collect their food and leave promptly.
After considering the information, the council sub-committee granted the licence, stipulating trading hours as 4pm to 9pm Monday to Thursday and 4pm to 10pm Friday to Sunday.
