Gloucester Councillor Denies Abuse Allegations in Bar Incident

Alastair Chambers, a Gloucester councillor, has denied accusations that he verbally abused a bar owner during an incident outside Butlers Venue Bar in Gloucester. The alleged altercation occurred on October 5, 2025, involving Chambers, 45, and businessman Justin Hudson.

Chambers, who represents the Matson and Robinswood area on Gloucestershire County Council and lives in Quedgeley, appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of harassment under the Public Order Act.

The prosecution claims Chambers used threatening and abusive language intended to cause harassment, alarm, or distress to Mr. Hudson. The charge is summary only, meaning it will be handled exclusively by the magistrates’ court. If convicted, Chambers could face up to six months in prison and/or an unlimited fine.
