Gloucester City Strengthen Squad with Loan Signing of Zack Ali and Permanent Return of Liam Cross

Gloucester City have bolstered their squad ahead of the season’s crucial run-in by securing two important signings: defender Zack Ali on loan from Bristol City, and the permanent return of midfielder Liam Cross from St Ives Town.

These acquisitions come in response to squad changes following the unexpected retirement of centre-half Ben Richards-Everton and the departure of wing-back Dylan Jones.

Zack Ali, a promising 20-year-old from Bristol City, joins the Tigers on loan until the end of the season. Known for his versatility, Ali can operate across defense and midfield, providing much-needed depth as Gloucester City seeks to maintain momentum in their promotion campaign. This loan marks Ali’s first experience away from his parent club, offering him valuable game time while the Tigers benefit from a talented youngster eager to make an impact.

In addition, Gloucester City have secured the permanent signing of midfielder Liam Cross from St Ives Town. This marks Cross’s third spell at New Meadow Park, having initially joined the club on loan during the current 2023/24 National League North season and previously last term. Unlike his previous loan deals, Cross now commits to Gloucester City on a permanent basis as they aim for promotion. The 22-year-old arrives with solid experience, having made 20 appearances this season in the Southern League Premier Central, bringing proven quality to the midfield.

With these strategic additions, Gloucester City are strengthening both their defensive and midfield options, positioning themselves strongly as they push towards a National League North promotion spot.
