Gloucester City delivered a stunning performance on Saturday afternoon, demolishing Dorchester Town 5-0 to secure third place in the league and clinch a home play-off semi-final spot. Manager Daf Williams expressed his satisfaction with the commanding display after a disappointing loss to Taunton Town on Easter Monday.
The Tigers set the tone early, taking the lead just two minutes in when Liam Cross was expertly played behind Dorchester’s defence and calmly slotted the ball home. The dominance continued as Sion Spence doubled the advantage in the 13th minute, expertly finishing a one-on-one chance.
Dorchester’s struggles worsened by the 18th minute when Jamal Mohammed’s skill inside the box led to a pinpoint chip to Keiran Thomas, who nodded in the third goal. Gloucester City’s relentless attacks didn’t stop there. Twenty minutes into the match, a slick exchange between Elis Watts and Spence resulted in Kane Simpson heading home a precise cross to the far post.

Just before halftime, Simpson struck again to make it 5-0, giving Gloucester an unassailable lead going into the break. With the contest settled, the second half saw little intensity as both sides conserved energy—the visitors basking in their success, while Dorchester faced the harsh reality of looming relegation.
Williams praised his squad’s resilience: “After Monday’s setback, the players showed immense bounce-back ability. This victory cements our third-place finish, ensuring a home semi-final, and matches the most wins and goals scored in over 25 years for Gloucester City.”
Looking ahead, Williams focuses on maintaining momentum: “We’re preparing for Yate like any other game. Winning there and at home to Walton will set us up nicely for the playoffs.”
