Gloucester City Manager Daf Williams “Delighted” as Tigers Edge Past Bracknell Town

Gloucester City’s manager, Daf Williams, expressed his delight following the team’s narrow 1-0 win over Bracknell Town on Saturday, extending their unbeaten streak and bolstering their promotion ambitions.

After an impressive February unbeaten run, City faced a significantly changed Bracknell side. The first half was marked by caution from both teams, with no clear scoring opportunities and a tense atmosphere on the pitch.

The breakthrough came in the 65th minute when a well-executed corner found City captain Keiran Thomas at the back post, who rose above the defense to head home the decisive goal. Despite Bracknell’s late push and a crucial save by goalkeeper Jared Thompson in the 85th minute, Gloucester held firm to claim all three points and maintain a clean sheet.

Williams acknowledged the challenge posed by Bracknell, who had shown strength against top teams this season. “It was a tough game and perhaps a bit more difficult than it needed to be, but at this stage of the season, results are what matter. We’re pleased with the win, though there’s room for improvement in certain areas,” Williams said.

The victory was also emotionally significant, dedicated to a devoted club supporter named Reg, who has been a fixture in the team’s dressing room.

Before the match, captain Keiran Thomas was honored for making his 100th appearance for Gloucester City—a milestone made even more special after battling back from injury. Williams praised Thomas’s determination and contribution: “He’s been brilliant since his return, and it was wonderful to see him mark the milestone with the winning goal.”

Defensively, Gloucester City has shown notable improvement, with the past two matches yielding clean sheets. Williams attributed this to tactical changes and a renewed team mindset: “Our defensive organization has dramatically improved due to personnel shifts, a new system, and greater focus on the back-end of the season. We’re very pleased with how we’ve performed defensively.”
