Gloucester City Council Leader Alastair Chambers Faces Harassment Charges

Alastair Chambers, the group leader of the Community Independents at Gloucester City Council, is set to appear in court this week following charges of harassment. Chambers, aged 45 and representing Matson, Robinswood, and White City wards, has been charged under the Public Order Act.

As well as his role on the city council, Chambers serves as a county councillor for Coney Hill and Matson. The allegation involves an incident that took place in October 2025, where he is accused of using threatening, abusive, or insulting language or behavior intending to cause harassment, alarm, or distress.

Chambers, who resides in Quedgeley, has publicly stated his intention to deny the charges. He is scheduled to appear before Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on May 7.
