Alastair Chambers, the group leader of the Community Independents at Gloucester City Council, is scheduled to appear before Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on May 7 following harassment charges. The councillor, who represents Matson, Robinswood, and White City, faces allegations under the Public Order Act for using threatening, abusive, or insulting language or behavior intended to cause harassment, alarm, or distress during an incident in October 2025.
Chambers, 45, from Quedgeley and also serving as a county councillor for Coney Hill and Matson, has publicly stated his intention to deny the charges. The case has drawn significant local attention given his prominent role in Gloucester’s political landscape.
