The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer has returned to our screens, and among the familiar faces is actor Jim Howick, known for his appearances in TV shows such as Peep Show, Here We Go, and Sex Education. As the 45-year-old makes his Bake Off debut, it’s evident that his expertise in creating savory dishes might give him an edge in the competition.
Born in Chichester, West Sussex, and raised in Bognor Regis, Jim attended The Regis School before graduating from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts with First Class Honors in 2000. His career has seen him co-create and star in the Sky One series Yonderland and feature in the comedy film Bill. Additionally, he has portrayed memorable characters in Peep Show, Babylon, Reggie Perrin, and more.
In 2019, Jim made his debut on Netflix as Mr. Hendricks in Sex Education, and he has also appeared in popular shows such as Broadchurch and Ghosts, which he co-wrote and co-created. Beyond his acting success, Jim is happily married to his wife, Lauren, whom he met on the set of Reggie Perrin. The couple currently resides in London with their two pet Schnauzers. Outside of his career, Jim is a devoted Tottenham Hotspur supporter and enjoys attending games with fellow stars.
