George Skivington on Jamal Ford-Robinson’s Gloucester Rugby Contract Extension

Gloucester Rugby has announced that versatile prop Jamal Ford-Robinson has signed a contract extension, underscoring his vital role within the club both on and off the pitch.

Since joining from Northampton Saints in 2019, Ford-Robinson has made over 100 appearances for the Cherry & White, showcasing his flexibility by competently playing both loose-head and tight-head prop positions.

A cornerstone of the Gloucester scrum, Ford-Robinson’s contributions were recognized last season when he received the Sid Smart Award, given to the player who makes an outstanding impact within the team and community.

At 31 years old, despite some injury setbacks, Ford-Robinson remains an essential squad member, having made nine appearances this season alone. His experience and leadership continue to influence the younger players coming through the ranks.

Gloucester’s director of rugby, George Skivington, emphasized Ford-Robinson’s unique value: “Jamal is an integral member of the squad; his ability to play on both sides of the scrum is unique, and his try-scoring from close range is exceptional. We have some talented young props emerging, and Jamal has been instrumental in mentoring them and helping develop their games.

He also brings a strong connection to our fanbase through his engagement and enthusiasm. I’m sure our supporters will be thrilled to see him commit to Gloucester here at Kingsholm.”
