George Skivington Explains Gloucester Rugby’s Decision to Re-sign Callum Braley

Gloucester Rugby have brought back former scrum-half Callum Braley on a short-term contract to address injury challenges within their squad. Braley, 31, who previously made over 100 appearances for the Cherry and Whites between 2014 and 2020, rejoined the club after stints with Benetton Rugby and Saracens.

Following a brief period away, the experienced scrum-half has been training with Gloucester in recent weeks to stay match-ready. He is now officially registered and available for selection in the upcoming PREM Rugby Cup fixture against Sale Sharks at Kingsholm Stadium this Friday.

Gloucester’s director of rugby, George Skivington, praised Braley’s professionalism and versatility: “Callum reached out to offer his support as a training partner, and his experience has been invaluable both on and off the pitch. With key players like Mikey Austin sidelined, Tomos Williams with Wales, and others out on loan for development, having Callum back provides essential depth at scrum-half.”

Additionally, Gloucester were boosted by Caolan Englefield’s return from injury during last week’s match against Exeter Chiefs, marking his first action since a shoulder injury sustained on England A duty in November.
