Significant closures are planned on a busy section of the A417 throughout late June and early July as work continues on the Missing Link bypass project. A two-mile stretch of the A417, between the A46 Shurdington Road junction and the Air Balloon roundabout near Birdlip and the A436 junction, will be closed to traffic intermittently.
To manage traffic during these times, motorists will be rerouted along a fully signposted 10-mile diversion. The closures include two extended weekend shutdowns: starting 9pm Saturday, June 21 until 6am Monday, June 23, and 11pm Friday, July 4 until 6am Monday, July 7.
In addition to weekend closures, overnight closures will be in effect from Sunday, June 29 through Friday, July 4, between 9pm and 6am daily. These works are essential for resurfacing, white lining, and installation of vehicle restraint systems, carried out by Kier Transportation on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways has notified local residents about potential noise disturbances during the works and apologizes for any inconvenience caused. Importantly, access via the Air Balloon Roundabout to the A417, Leckhampton Hill, and the A436 will remain open, including entry to Crickley Hill Country Park. Emergency services will maintain full access throughout the closures.
Motorists are urged to follow the official diversion routes and avoid relying on satellite navigation systems to prevent confusion.
Specific closure details:
