McCann’s roots in football began locally, playing Sunday League alongside his older brother and training with Coventry City and Aston Villa at a young age. When Manchester United came calling, McCann embraced the opportunity despite a back injury delaying his move. Transitioning gradually from school to full-time training under Kieran McKenna, alongside future stars such as Mason Greenwood and Angel Gomes, McCann soaked up invaluable experience. The intensity of life at Carrington, from training beside Zlatan Ibrahimovic to spotting Jose Mourinho in corridors, was initially surreal but ultimately formative.

Yet, McCann always sought men’s football, which led to his decision to join Rangers at 19 for £750,000.
