Four Charged Over Vandalism of RAF Brize Norton Aircraft

Four individuals have been charged by counter-terrorism police following a high-profile vandalism incident at RAF Brize Norton. On June 20, two Voyager aircraft stationed at the Oxfordshire base were defaced with red paint, resulting in an estimated £7 million in damages.

The charged suspects, aged between 22 and 35, are Amy Gardiner-Gibson (29) and Jony Cink (24), both currently with no fixed address, along with London residents Daniel Jeronymides-Norie (35) and Lewie Chiaramello (22). All four appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, July 3, where they were remanded in custody.

The activist group Palestine Action has taken responsibility for the attack. Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) confirmed the charges against the four individuals include conspiracy to unlawfully enter a prohibited area with intent prejudicial to UK safety or interests, and conspiracy to commit criminal damage.

Additionally, a 41-year-old woman detained on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail until September 19. A 23-year-old man initially arrested was released without charge.

In a swift political response, the UK Parliament passed legislation to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation under the Terrorism Act 2000. The House of Commons voted 385 to 26 in favor of the ban on membership and activities of the group. The legislation awaits formal approval in the House of Lords before becoming law.
