Former Prime Minister David Cameron has openly expressed his admiration for Jeremy Clarkson, the well-known Cotswolds farming advocate, while enjoying a pint at Clarkson’s popular Cotswolds pub, the Farmer’s Dog. Cameron savoured a glass of Hawkstone stout, brewed under Clarkson’s brand, as filming commenced on the sixth season of the acclaimed Amazon Prime Video series, Clarkson’s Farm.
The programme has significantly reshaped public perceptions of rural life and brought attention to numerous challenges faced by farmers. Cameron, who resides in nearby Chipping Norton, commended Clarkson for his efforts, stating that he had done “an amazing job” in highlighting farming issues.
“He’s done more for farming than anyone else I can think of in recent years,” remarked the former Conservative leader.

Cameron also attended the Hawkstone Harvest Festival, an event designed to celebrate the conclusion of the harvest season and to honour the “heroes of British farming.” The festival included live performances throughout the day, featuring Groove Armada’s Andy Cato alongside the Hawkstone Farmers Choir. Proceeds contributed to support services for farmers facing difficulties.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Cameron expressed his desire to demonstrate his support for the farming community.
In related news, police are investigating the theft of eleven sheep from Clarkson’s Diddly Squat farm, an incident Cameron described as “very old-fashioned sheep rustling,” highlighting it as a serious problem currently affecting rural areas. He emphasised the necessity for law enforcement to address such crimes with urgency.
Regarding speculation about the potential relocation of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the Cotswolds, Cameron - a resident of the area for 27 years - affirmed his belief that they would be warmly welcomed by the local community.
