David Cameron, the former Prime Minister, has publicly expressed his admiration for Jeremy Clarkson, the television personality and advocate for Cotswolds farming. While enjoying a pint of Clarkson’s own Hawkstone stout at the Farmer’s Dog pub in the Cotswolds, Cameron praised Clarkson’s efforts in raising awareness about rural issues.
The pub, owned by Clarkson himself, has become a central hub for local farmers and residents. The occasion coincides with ongoing production of the sixth season of Clarkson’s Farm, the popular Amazon Prime Video series that has transformed public perceptions of countryside life and shed light on the challenges faced by farmers.
Residing nearby in Chipping Norton, Cameron commended Clarkson’s role, stating he had done “an amazing job” in championing farming causes. “He’s done more for farming than anyone else I can think of in recent years,” the former Conservative leader commented.

Cameron attended the Hawkstone Harvest Festival, an event created to mark the end of the harvest season and celebrate the ‘heroes of British farming.’ The festival featured live performances by Andy Cato of Groove Armada and the Hawkstone Farmers Choir. Proceeds from the event supported a service dedicated to assisting struggling farmers.
In an interview with The Sun on Sunday, Cameron explained his motivation for attending the festival was to lend his support to the farming community.
The former Prime Minister also addressed a recent incident near Clarkson’s farm, where police are investigating the theft of 11 sheep, which has been described as traditional “sheep rustling.” Cameron expressed concern about the prevalence of such rural crimes, emphasising the seriousness of the issue and the necessity for police to respond accordingly.
Additionally, Cameron touched on the possibility of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moving to the Cotswolds, expressing confidence that they would be warmly welcomed in the area where he has lived for 27 years.
