Former Luton Town and Charlton Athletic Goalkeeper Harry Isted Joins Forest Green Rovers

Forest Green Rovers have bolstered their squad by signing goalkeeper Harry Isted on a short-term contract until the end of the season. The deal comes following Isted’s contract termination with Burton Albion.

The 28-year-old shotstopper brings valuable experience, including time in the National League with Wealdstone in 2020 after helping them earn promotion from the National League South the previous year. Standing at 6ft 1in, Isted made his Championship debut with Luton Town—his parent club from 2017 to 2023—coming on as a replacement for the injured James Shea in a 1-0 win over Cardiff City in April 2022.

In 2023, he joined Barnsley on loan, where he was a key player, starting 22 consecutive games and playing in the Playoff final alongside former Forest Green players Liam Kitching, Nicky Cadden, and James Norwood. Unfortunately, Barnsley fell 1-0 to Sheffield Wednesday in that crucial fixture.

After his stint at Barnsley, Isted signed for Charlton Athletic, appearing in 21 league matches before moving to Burton Albion ahead of the 2024/25 season. A graduate of the Southampton academy, Isted has struggled for regular minutes at Burton, featuring in only eight games last season and yet to make an appearance this campaign.

His move to Forest Green Rovers signals a fresh opportunity for the goalkeeper to secure more playing time and contribute to the club’s objectives for the remainder of the season.
