Forest Green Rovers have bolstered their squad by signing forward Kairo Mitchell on a free transfer after his release from Rochdale earlier this summer.
The 27-year-old striker impressed during his two-year spell at Rochdale’s Crown Oil Arena, netting 14 league goals in each season. A key player for the club, Mitchell featured in 44 of 46 league games last season, playing a vital role in Rochdale’s push for the playoffs.
An international for Grenada with 19 caps, Mitchell brings valuable experience and goal-scoring ability to Forest Green Rovers. Manager Robbie Savage praised the new signing, stating, “Kairo fits our philosophy and adds another element to our crop of already impressive forward players. He’s a great capture for the football club and it shows the alignment in what we want to achieve here at FGR. I’m confident he’ll be a success.”

Mitchell’s career began in the Leicester City academy before he moved through the non-league ranks with Nuneaton Borough, Coalville Town, Dartford, and King’s Lynn Town. He broke into the National League with Chesterfield in 2021, making 164 appearances at this level and scoring 43 goals across his time with Chesterfield, Notts County, Eastleigh, and Rochdale.
His signing signals Forest Green Rovers’ ambition as they continue to shape their squad for the challenges ahead.
