Former Cheltenham, Northampton, Notts County, and Walsall Goalkeeping Coach Dan Watson to Depart Forest Green Rovers

Forest Green Rovers goalkeeping coach Dan Watson is set to leave the club after a single season, Gloucestershire Live understands. Watson joined Forest Green last summer, initially focusing on goalkeeping coaching before expanding his role to include overseeing offensive set pieces, notably ahead of their September match against Morecambe.

Watson is the second coaching staff member appointed by manager Robbie Savage to depart the club, following Wayne Hatswell’s exit after just one month. Forest Green also recently decided not to renew the contract of first-choice goalkeeper Harry Isted ahead of the 2026/27 season, leaving Luke McNicholas and Fiachra Pagel as the remaining goalkeepers.

Despite his departure, Watson was regarded as a key figure within the backroom team, frequently seen alongside manager Savage, assistant Jon McMahon, and coach Mark Bowen during matches, including the FA Youth Cup tie against Winchester City.
