Former Bristol City and Salford City Forward Hakeeb Adelakun Set to Join Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham Town are poised to bolster their attacking options with the signing of forward Hakeeb Adelakun on a short-term contract running until January, sources close to the club have confirmed.

The 29-year-old, standing at 6ft 3in, has been unattached since departing Salford City over the summer. During the previous season, Adelakun made a significant impact, notably scoring both goals in Salford’s 2-1 victory over Cheltenham after coming off the bench, concluding his campaign with a total of 13 goals.

Adelakun brings a wealth of experience from his time with several clubs, including Bristol City—where he featured in the Championship—as well as Lincoln City and Scunthorpe United. Throughout his career, he has also been loaned to Rotherham United, Hull City, Gillingham, and Doncaster Rovers, showcasing his adaptability across the front line.

Born in Hackney, Adelakun developed his skills within the youth academies of Crystal Palace and West Ham United before progressing to the professional ranks.

His arrival marks Cheltenham’s third signing since the return of manager Steve Cotterill, joining midfielder Ben Stevenson and defender Jonathan Tomkinson in strengthening the squad.

The Robins look to leverage this new addition as they prepare for their upcoming League Two home game against Notts County on Monday night, kicking off at 8pm.
