Forest Green Rovers Unveil Innovative Away Kit Inspired by Ocean Cleanup Efforts

Forest Green Rovers, known as the world’s greenest football club, have launched their striking new 2026/27 away kit, paying tribute to Fish Net Zero – an initiative dedicated to recovering abandoned fishing gear from UK waters.

This season, the kit made its debut in the hands of nine-year-old season ticket holder Louie from Gloucestershire, who, alongside his father Damian, had the special privilege of unveiling the design in a photoshoot with club scout Oli Ewing. “It’s definitely better than the old away shirt. I’d give it a solid 9.5 out of 10,” Louie enthusiastically commented.

The kit’s design draws inspiration from the Nemesis, a high-speed patrol vessel operated by Fish Net Zero, part of the Green Britain Foundation. Its distinctive livery reflects the ship’s mission, symbolising Forest Green’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. Chairman Dale Vince explained, “This away kit honours the remarkable work of volunteer divers removing discarded nets and traps to protect our oceans. Forest Green will wear it for the next two years as part of our dual focus on sustainability and fan affordability.”

Nemesis skipper Mark Muschamp praised the collaboration: “Our volunteers dive in tough conditions to clean up the seas. It’s an incredible honor to see the team wear a kit inspired by the Nemesis. I’m excited to watch them play in these colors.”

The players will debut the new kit on July 25 in a home pre-season friendly against Cardiff City. Crafted by official partner Reflo, the kit uses recycled and recyclable materials through their Reloop process, aligning with Forest Green’s well-established green ethos.

Reflo’s marketing director Ben Stoney emphasized the environmental impact: “Today’s young fans expect sustainable solutions. This kit, inspired by Fish Net Zero’s efforts, carries the lightest environmental footprint we’ve achieved. Louie’s genuine excitement confirms we’re on the right track. Our Reflo Reloop program ensures every garment sold can be renewed or recycled, closing the loop on sportswear sustainability.”

With this innovative kit, Forest Green Rovers continue to set the standard for eco-conscious football apparel while celebrating marine conservation heroes.
