Forest Green Rovers have officially signed prolific forward Ricardo Rees from Merthyr Town on a permanent transfer. The 26-year-old striker has been in sensational form this season, netting 25 goals in just 24 National League North appearances, alongside three assists. Notably, Rees showcased his talent recently with a goal and assist in a convincing win against Hereford.
Despite interest from Bristol Rovers, Swindon Town, Gillingham, and Crawley Town, Rees opted to join Forest Green Rovers, a decision that followed his successful medical examination earlier today. Remarkably, he played 82 minutes for Merthyr Town just last night before completing his transfer.
Rees’ journey began in the Cardiff City academy before a move to Bristol City, where he contributed regularly to the Under-23 squad though never breaking into the senior team. Loan spells at Bath City and Salisbury provided valuable experience before he spent nearly two years at Yate Town. His recent move to Merthyr Town saw him flourish, scoring 38 goals in the 2023/24 season and 33 goals so far in 2024/25.
