Forest Green Rovers Secure Play-Off Spot with 3-1 Victory Over Braintree

Forest Green Rovers have confirmed their place in the National League play-offs with a commanding 3-1 win against relegated Braintree at home.

The hosts took the lead in the 37th minute when D’Mani Mellor capitalized on a rebound after Kyle McAllister’s shot hit the crossbar. Moments before halftime, Forest Green’s goalkeeper Harry Isted made a crucial save, denying Braintree’s Lewis Walker a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

However, Walker leveled the score in the 58th minute, calmly tapping in from a precise low cross by Chay Cooper. Forest Green regained the advantage in the 71st minute through Tom Knowles, who finally beat Mason Terry after the keeper had saved both McAllister’s long-range effort and Knowles’ header. Just three minutes later, Nick Haughton sealed the win by firing home a pass from Mellor, sending the home crowd into celebration.
