Forest Green Rovers have strengthened their squad with the loan signing of centre-back Filozofe Mabete from Swindon Town. The 21-year-old defender joins the Green Devils on a six-month loan deal ahead of the National League season opener against Halifax Town this weekend.
Mabete, a right-footed centre-back, is Forest Green’s ninth signing this summer as the club continues to build a competitive side. The young defender originally joined Swindon Town in June 2025 after progressing through Wolverhampton Wanderers' youth teams. During his time at Wolves, Mabete made 114 appearances from 2021 to 2025 across the club’s U18, U21, and U23 squads.
Since arriving at Swindon, Mabete has been a consistent presence in the Robins’ defence. In the 2025/26 season, he featured in 33 matches and scored two goals. Furthermore, he has started every pre-season game so far this term, demonstrating his importance to the team.

Forest Green Rovers’ manager Robbie Savage expressed his satisfaction with the signing:
“He’s a brilliant signing and played really well against us last weekend. It’s a great addition to the club with so many attributes. I’d also like to thank Ian Holloway at Swindon for allowing us to bring him in. We are in a far better position now compared to this time last season.”
With Mabete’s arrival, Forest Green aims to solidify their defence as they prepare for the new campaign.
