Forest Green Rovers Receive Bid from Scottish Premiership Leaders Hearts for Laurent Mendy

Forest Green Rovers have reportedly received a transfer bid from Scottish Premiership leaders Heart of Midlothian for their interim club captain, Laurent Mendy, according to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke.

The 28-year-old defensive midfielder, who transitioned to centre-back, has enjoyed a remarkable rise this season. After winning the Northern Premier League with Macclesfield, Mendy moved up two tiers to join Forest Green in the National League. Since then, he has become an integral part of the team’s campaign to return to League Two following a double relegation two years ago.

Forest Green currently sit fifth in the National League, just two points shy of the top position. Mendy’s reliability is underscored by his near-perfect attendance, having played every minute of league football this season except for the closing stages of the 4-2 defeat at Carlisle United, when he was sent off, and the subsequent suspension.

Initially stepping into the captaincy role due to injuries to key players, including long-term absentee Jordan Moore-Taylor, Mendy has demonstrated leadership on and off the pitch. Forest Green have also bolstered their defense recently with the signing of Gabe Kircough, a former Penybont centre-back who made his debut off the bench in the recent 1-1 draw against Sutton United.
